The greatest GAA commentator bar none.
He near got me killed one day. He told me to āāclose your eyesāā. I was driving at the time
Abseiling at 88, absolutely phenomenal zest for life.
Not a terribly high bar in fairness. If you could stand Michael OāHehir (I couldnāt - he was the embodiment of the axis between the establishment and the Church) there was only him and O Muircheartaigh. After that you were into dross like Canning and Marty Morrissey. Marty has been trying to come up with an O Muircheartaigh style aphorism for 30 plus years now and still hasnāt succeeded.
It came easy to Micheal, or it appeared to, maybe thats the trick. Its odd to think heās gone, he felt like he should always be there.

Imitation is a great form of flattery if conducted properly.
He canāt as you said.
Tommie Gorman will be raging
MOH and him were fantastic,
MOH for those with radios only especially stuck in a caravan in Banna back in the 70s ( MOH)
Iād say heāll live with it
Who was it that said that Paddy Cullen realising he was been lobbed by Mikey Sheehy was akin to a housewife realising she left the oven on?
From what I heard of him. I thought Michael OāHehir was a brilliant commentator, superior to OāMuirceartaigh.
If only for the Seamus Dāarby commentary.
That was Con Houlihan in a written piece
OHehirs commentary on that was very annoying
It was a brilliant line by Houlihan.
Thatās true about the lack of competition from Mick Dunne and Jim carney. In fairness Michael O M was very good by any measure though. The distinctive voice, the passion for the game and line in shite talk surely puts him right up there even across other sports.
āPat Fox has it on his hurl and is motoring well nowā¦but here comes Joe Rabbitte hot on his tailā¦Iāve seen it all now, a Rabbitte chasing a Fox around Croke Park!ā
āPat Fox out to the 40 and grabs the sliothar, I bought a dog from his father last week. Fox turns and sprints for goal. The dog ran a great race last Tuesday in Limerick. Fox to the 21, fires a shot, it goes to the left and wideā¦and the dog lost as well.ā
āAnthony Lynch, the Cork corner back, will be the last person to let you down ā his people are undertakers.ā
RIP, a character. His son is a brutal physio but sure that wasnāt Meehawls fault.
Unfortunately I canāt offer condolences in the other thread as celebrating the end of the green party is not having the right opinions here according to the Ifsc brigade.
In the interview with winning connections at Cheltenham there was a prince and some fella from duagh? Anybody know who that was or the connection?
Wonder how they linked up
OāHehir was painful
Michael Lyster was on Virgin there a few minutes ago giving his 2 cents and seemed to be a bit pissed,or maybe heās like that since his stroke or whatever he had.
