I’m on me holidays so I am

I didn’t particularly enjoy it either. My life partner & I had a right jaunt that time - Cape Town, road trip along that Garden Route through wine region & along coast to Plettenberg Bay, Port Elizabeth & then safari. Mauritius was after all that so plan was to mainly relax in the resort but I prefer to be city breaking or generally out & about rather than sitting poolside reading a book & then hitting the same buffet every day. Mauritius was a bit meh but didn’t really venture far beyond the hotel in fairness.

There’s nothing beyond the hotel. It’s all beaches and hotel bars. That’s it. In my Mascarene island tour it lies a distant second behind shark-infested Frenchie land. There’s fuck all here. Reunion is ten times the island Mauritius is

At the risk/threat of another day facing into the buffet, I decided to wander and headed to the north west of the island (it’s closer to Ireland and felt like home). I got chatting to a group from South Africa and agreed to take a group photo of them but, in a sinister twist, they tried to engage me in “rugby banter” so I quickly paid my bill and left. I drank another few and got a happy hour where (I’m fairly sure) the owner fancied my missus and kept buying us drink, and annoyingly chatting to her, so I quickly interjected with some excellent small talk about the upcoming Limerick county final (i spellt out why I fancy Nap and he’d no response. The mug.). That fairly softened his cough.
Then we simply bought a dominoes and paid a taxi man 30 euro to drive the equivalent of Castletroy to town.

I hate Mauritius

That’s around 20 quid now as I realised a few months back heading back to my folks. I’m supping pints in Limerick tomorrow (might see @PhattPike at the Siege) but have worked out there’s a bus up until 11.45pm and I’ll be in from about 2pm so will surely have my fill by then.

Great holiday anecdotes though. That post deserves a huge amount of likes, in my opinion.

Humming and hawing over it - Brigantia are playing alright which is a big draw. Could end up wearing my leather jacket and flannel to TUS Gaelic Grounds yet as well.

Are you a Doon man pal?

More of a Doom man.

I think I’ll just be going in early for some Shardborne and Uncultivates.

Off for some footix action then, and a dinner date later. I’ll be half mouldy by 8pm.

Shardborne are on fairly early I think? The Siege is a long auld slog of a day. The dinner date wouldn’t want to be a fine dining experience. :grimacing:

Shardborne on around 3. Heading to Aura around 7:30 I think.

I’d say I’ll be making some sound art myself tomorrow night :dash::dash::dash:

I’ve never done a full day at it. Only bits and pieces. Some of it is too metal for me.

Sail and rail going well guys

Holyhead was described by avanti as a small town that punches above its weight.

Sure you might as well add Carrick-on-Suir while we’re at it.
