It’s a fine pub but I was only in it once or twice. The Corner House in the centre of the town was my favoured port of call when there. Tom Hughes was the proprietor back in the day and was a gent.

Jays still haven’t done nothing with Gouldings. I was down that way at the market last year… Whole place could do with a bulldozer or 20 going through the whole area.

I was up north then
Derry was worse
But then it always was
Never had any real industry
Whereas on leeside generations working in ford’s and Dunlop’s was the norm
