Most people forget about Staten Island.For good reason.How did Staten Island get it’s name?

There was a load of Kerry lads going down the BQE to work one morning when I young lad just off the boat was looking out the window of the van at Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty lamenting about how only a week ago he was looking at bog and sheep grazing in fields,he the points out the window and says "is Staten Island " there boy?
