Sunday walks
There’s one in original form, Grianan of Aileach
Nice , Grianan has tunnels etc, not quite simple, google it , it’s fabulous, cam see Lough Swilly ( o Donnell Abu territory, some of Derry )
O Néill built it or added to it
Beautiful. Cromwell burned the shit out of Dunamase, his objective was to ensure it could never be reoccupied
That creature
Significant enough to have appeared in Ptolemy’s map of Ireland in 140AD.
Well worth a visit.
Humans were made of shterner shtuff back in them days.
One good thing about lockdown is there is ne’er a tour bus or visitor up there now so if you make it, you have it to yourself. It’s a magical place. It must have been a fair hard place to reach in the 12th century.
I’d nearly frame that. That’s magnificent.
