In The Courts

"I get, give or take… about €660,000 a year and I pay 30.3% tax on that, so it’s about a net €500,000. And out of that €500,000, I run a home in Dublin, Castlebar and Brussels. I wanna tell you something, try it sometime.

Just watching this on the news, saying he sat in court most days clutching rosary beads.

Another one of those ā€˜Christians’

The shady dealings that prevented Gibney from prosecuting Gibney in the 90s should be investigated now. It allowed him to emigrate and abuse more children.

Barry used to be fairly quick off the draw there. Not like him.

most of them cannot hold out beyond 45 days - the BMW lease payments and mortgage commitments will create balancing issues on their ā€˜client’ accounts.

Judge Cody might consider mitigating his language in this case.

Accused ā€œunable to access legal aidā€ my hole. Same accused summarily disposed of his wife without a shred of empathy no doubt and straight away he becomes a victim of the system.

Bullshit statement your honour.

He was having a go at the legal profession for not turning up and doing their duty. They are well able to give high-minded talk about constitutional rights of the accused when they can charge for every appearance

It’s pretty straightforward reporting and speak, what exactly drew out your ire?

I’m aware of the differences between the legal eagles and their employer but to answer your question I was immediately drawn to the judges stern wording and the implication that the accused was somehow the unlucky guy just caught up in the whole thing.

I’m familiar with the innocent till proven guilty concept but I’m also aware that the accused ( more than likely) ended this lady’s life in a fairly traumatic fashion from reports. No doubt but the accused will plead not guilty and a 3 week trial will ensue paid for by (1 guess) :white_check_mark:

I’d be curious as to what the state’s free legal aid bill is on an annual basis.

Judge Andrew Cody is a bit of a looper though. He’s the lad who had his knuckles rapped by the High Court because he struck out a load of speeding fines because he didn’t like where the speed van was set up.
