You’ll walk into another job in Australia.
Fwiw, the construction lads in Galway (plumbers, sparkys and blocklayers), (and this is entirely anecdotal, but I went to a match with one of each last week) are tipping away, but not flat out. Some say wages are slowly going up, and some not.
My good pal, a blocklayer, had two and a half days work last week, and was planning on going to London for a month (he enjoys London).
There does seem to be a planning application in every field again. One offs are booming, but major estate developments are still very thin.
Dublin has more cranes than the height of the Tiger.
In summary, I’m sorry it’s happened, you’ll pick up more work handy, it’s absolutely rotten on the subbies, and you’d find monaghan a struggle I suspect on more than one front.
A few years ago you had lads literally throwing their tools into bins and now this is where we’re at.
