Australia reveal International Rules Test squad

Australia’s team for next month’s International Rules Test against Ireland has been named.

Included by manager Alastair Clarkson is Hawthorn’s recently crowned grand final winning captain Robert Murphy and four of his team-mates.

Australia travel to Dublin for the one-off Test with a 22-man squad comprised of players who have previously won All-Australian honours.

Of the 22 players, 18 have previously played international rules, including Luke Hodge, the Hawthorn star who won the Jim Stynes medal - for player of the tournament - for his outstanding performance in Australia’s defeat of Ireland in Perth last November.

Fourteen of the squad represented the Aussies in that one-off Test last year, which Australia won 56-46 at Patersons Stadium.

The Australians will travel to New York for a week-long training camp in the second week of November, where they will play a US representative GAA team, before arriving in Ireland the week before the game on 21 November at Croke Park.

Very strong line up

Anything to Rodney?

Who’s Rodney?

Ah Rodney was one of the greats alright.

Rodney Dangerfield - comedian and actor.

Last year it was the Ulster lads who single handedly brought the fight to the Australians with Donnelly, Hughes, McManus, Cavanagh and McKernan leading the charge. Hopefully this time we leave all the shitbags from Mayo and Cork away from this.

Cunt of a day for it.

Never realised my beloved Hawthorn won the title this year :ronnyroar:

Won the three in a row DB.

Sean Cavangh and Michael Murphy out!

When will Kernan finalise his team?

Brogan and Keegan are the captain and vice-captain respectively.

No aussie based players.

This thing is a farce.

How many have we there who are actually getting regular gametime? 3? 4?

Thought the rule changes had a very positive impact last year.

What has that got to do with it. They are easily the best placed players for this game.

Its deliberate as well. They are determined to win 2 or 3 in a row and end it.

It grates them we can beat them.

Rules changes completely suit aussies and basically they threw the rattle out of the pram in the discussions and the gaa folded despite protestations from management. “Apparently”

Its well believable.

The game was much better as a spectacle last year due to the rule changes.

or maybe it was because Australia actually picked good players.

Hard to remember completely as previous games were farces. All i remember was the rule changes which took away from ireland big time.

Rules were not an advantage to ireland. Aussies picking shite teams were an advantage.

Edit: just saw gmans post

I never said they were an advantage to Ireland, I said they improved the game as a spectacle.

What players Kev?
