Ireland - Euro 2012

Standby: Randolph, McShane, Green, Coleman, Keogh

As broadly expected.

Any news on McCarthy? Is he ‘the player with the problem’ or just left out?

I would presume he is the player with the problem

What the fuck was Trap on about with Fahey

James McCarthy asked to be withdraw as his father has been diagnosed with cancer.

Thought Lawrence might have made the standby list or is he injured?

Lawrence played for Cardiff on Thursday night. He’s just been overtaken by others, it seems.

The phrase “senior player” doesn’t count for much these days.

McClean in. Excellent.

All the best to McCarthy Sr.

Scottish presenter on Sky Sports appears to be happy about McCarthy not making the squad.

Made a reference to McCarthy turning down Scotland and then repeated that he was not included in the Irish squad.

Doesn’t seem to be aware of the circumstances yet.

It just goes to show the amount of spoofers in the media. Unfortunate for McCarthy but the story was a total anti-climax.

Tony O’Donoghue asking Trap if James McClean can make a Toto-Schillaci-style impact on the tournament.

Thinly veiled “English football is shit” from Trap there

+1.

As for the media, where the fuck did those Duff rumours come from. FFS.

Duff’s baby had some health issues but all is ok now. A 2nd kid is on the way in September.

Certain sections of the media will find fault with the selection, even though it’s difficult to argue with it. I guess leaving Coleman out is the only thing they could possibly jump on. Maybe Foley could be deemed a bit fortunate to get in but he’s versatile and has started a competitive game for us before.

I wonder if McCarthy would have gone if available?

Trap said “yes” when asked that question by the thoroughly alright sort Tommy Martin of TV3.

McClean’s tearing into Norn Iron backers on Twitter again.
