Ireland Euro 2016

A win would be a great start in a tough away fixture. A draw would be reasonable. A loss and we’re struggling. This is the worst squad we’ve probably had in living memory. On the plus side we’ve got a good manager and Scotland and Poland are not fantastic either. If we are to have a chance of qualifying we need to be really well organised and hope that our creative player(s) delivers.
If anyone has good stream for game tomorrow it would be greatly appreciated.

There should be a few decent streams available close to kick off.

What time is this kicking off?

I have not been enamored with this management team and their decision to bring Shay Given out of retirement is a poor call. I would be surprised if we managed to do better than third place and a play off defeat

@Joe Player already started a thread on this
there is another thread also where i posted some very informative pieces of information about the Gibratler national football team

And the hurling final makes it to Sky Sports 1 by contrast.

All the landlords in the East End of London being asked to switch the tv over to the hurling.

“It’s the facking All-Ireland final, innt.”

Irish soccer supporter travels to wrong Georgia

As Ireland begin their Euro 2016 campaign in Georgia today, a fanatical Irish soccer supporter is rueing not checking the map a bit more closely. Bernard “The Big D” Devine travelled to the wrong Georgia and now finds himself with three days to kill in the USA.

“I’d had Georgia on my mind for months. And now it’s all for nothing. I feel a bit stupid to be honest.”

“I’ve been following the team for years. I never miss an away match. For months people have been telling me Georgia is tough place to get to. I was laughing at them, saying that I had a direct flight booked and it was going to be a doddle. I guess they were right, as it turns out. It is a tougher place to get to than I thought.”

The Sallynoggin man found his hopes of attending the opening Euro 2016 qualifier had gone with the wind as he landed in Atlanta, some 5,000 miles away from Tblisi, where the Irish team play today.

“How the hell was I supposed to know there were two Georgias?” said Devine. “UEFA have been letting in teams from everywhere lately, some of them aren’t even in Europe. It’s their fault that I’ve ended up here, really, isn’t it?”

Devine’s mistake is the biggest Irish sporting disappointment in Atlanta since hot favourite Sonia O’Sullivan infamously pulled out of the Olympic 5,000 metres in 1996.

“I don’t know what I’m going to do now”, he said. “I’ll probably look for an Irish bar to watch it in. But they’ll probably be showing that poxy hurling. Fuckin’ Gah.”

Massive game this evening. We really need to be winning this if we are to have realistic hopes of coming 2nd.

I reckon we’ll take the following points off our group opponents and see where it takes us.

The home games are massive

Georgia - 6
Gibraltar - 6
Poland - 3
Scotland - 4
Germany - 0

As someone who wasn’t in favour of Given returning, I’m happy to report that David Forde will be starting this evening.

ROI XI v Georgia: Forde, Coleman, O’Shea, Wilson, Ward; McCarthy, Whelan, Quinn, Walters, McGeady, Keane

Seems a little negative. Stephen Quinn supporting Keane or McGeady central behind the striker? I’m guessing Walters is on the right but he could be upfront in a 4-4-2 either. No Hoolahan or Long. Not too enthused about Stephen Ward starting the campaign as first choice left back.

Could be a 4-2-3-1 as

Forde
Coleman O’Shea Wilson Ward
McCarthy Whelan
McGeady Quinn Walters
Keane

link?

3-5-2

Forde
O’Shea Wilson Ward
Coleman McCarthy Whelan Quinn McGeady
Walters Keane
