To be honest the âthis party is doomedâ scenario is tosh . People nowadays are moving away from being wedded to a party .
FF the biggest party in local government . 6 moths ago SF were doomed , 4 months ago FG were doomed etc âŚ
Maybe in 5 years they might all be doomed .
Good to see the Dail being used to advance practical solutions
Every company should be nationalised. We have the Apple money and we can always print more of the stuff.
I donât think Mick Barry is being ambitious enough - why doesnât he nationalise both airlines and then offer everyone in the country a job working for them at whatever salary they want to be paid.
To be fair it is a genuine socialist alternative . I personally donât think it would work . SInn Fein havenât made a Real effort to form a government with these guys so we really donât have an alternative to the status quo
Only one man can save FFâŚ
Mick Barry should be running Ryanair
Would the apple money even cover the cost of buying Ryanair!
Also. Did we make a good go out of running Aer Lingus when we owned it? My recall, vague enough tbf, is that the state made a bollix of it and it was a massive gravy train for the staff
Anything the state touches turns into a gravy train.
Paul Murphy said that Willie Walsh and Michael OâLeary didnât know what it took to run an airline. Itâs the workers that do so they should run it.
He also said we need to move to high speed rail with those companies. Apparently the workers are not only experts in airlines, but in building rail infrastructure.
All the semi states have been effective basket cases.
Just look at CIĂ as well if you want to know why this fallacy that they can be run for the state good and not just narrow worker interests (particularly management ones).
Current market cap of âŹ10bilion - allowing for a premium would take most of the âŹ13 billion. Aer Lingus another couple
I suspect Mick doesnât intend to pay anything when he suggests ânationalisingâ though
Finally this sham Govt is being called to account
That MacSharry chap reminds me of a David McSavage character.
