I suppose that one could mistakenly think from the name of the party etc that their core mission would be gaining power to implement policies with a view to saving the planet.

If I’m being honest I made a similar error.

Yes. I think they’ve a superb opportunity to drive a great bargain and seem to be increasingly focused on ideological purity, culture wars and interval politics.

If you sincerely believed in the green movement but were a social conservative then you wouldn’t be welcome in Mick’s Green Party.

Calls for him to go off and do some diversity and inclusion training on twitter. I’d say whatever his faults Eamonn is a nice fella and doesn’t have a bigoted bone in his body.

I’d agree with that. But it was a stupid thing to do. Whatever about the shock value of using the term to show us the racism, the person to do it was not the definition of privilege in a wealthy white man.

The nakedly political pile-on from fellow Green members, councillors etc is fairly hilarious.

It shouldn’t matter as much in a single issue party though. You could be the most committed environmentalist possible and be blacklisted for believing a high % of travellers don’t care about the environment

Does anyone know anything about a guy called Kieran Allen? Apparently a UCD academic who leads Irish socialism from behind the scenes, supposedly wrote the manifestos for PBP and the SWP?
