Prime Time on compensation scandal a shocking indictment of state policy. Very little of this issue made media headlines in the Election. Surprisingly, the new left made no attempt to engage the issue.
Compensation for what?
Medical negligence.
FOr medical negligence people should be compensated. To stop it the government need to sort out the health service. If the medical staff werenât so short staffed maybe half the mistakes wouldnât be happening. Also how the fuck.do you hire a radiographer that doesnât know the difference between an ankle and an elbow.
My aunt was very nearly killed by a well known doctor not long ago when she went in for a routine operation. Legal proceedings are in place so I wonât say any more.
Another relative of mine through marriage was killed due to medical negligence when he went in for a routine operation on his gall bladder in 1995.
I hate the compo culture that exists in Ireland.
I am not a fan of the compo culture either for the silly things like I burnt my tongue because the coffee was hot and no one told me. But for Medical negligence it is different.
You are putting your life in the hands of these people and dependent on them to make the correct decisions with regards to your health. Itâs not your fault if the surgeon takes out the wrong kidney or if they leave some surgical instrument inside you. If they fuck up you are left to suffer the consequences of it so yes you should be compensated. I can bet you as well that you will have to go to war with them as well for the compensation.
I remember going in for one of my knee surgeries and they had marked the wrong knee and I had to tell them that it was the other knee.
Martin has called Kennyâs bluff and FG look set to agree to a minority government
Looks a core group of independents are going to back Martin for Taoiseach today
If Kenny looses the vote will it be the end of him?
Canât see either Kenny or martin being elected Taoiseach today. It looks like no one in the Dail outside FG want anything to do with Kenny or FG and the same goes for Martin and FF.
It was very âWest Wingâ of Martin to use the time that his negotiating team were in deliberations to put the hard word on the Independents.
Enda was probably on official business for our reigning COTY at the time.
I am reliably informed that the independents are all looking for their pound of flesh and to make deals with enough of them to form a government is completely unfeasible.
At what point do we have to legally go back to the polls?
There is no need to back to the polls. FG and FF just have to find a way to work together. If Kenny goes up to see the President to ask him to desolve the Dail, The president should run him out of the Park and tell both Kenny and Martin to get their heads out of their arses and form a government.
Looks like this failed. 14 independent TDâs to abstain from the vote.
And so the blame now swings back on the Independents for the failure to elect a Taoiseach for a Minority Government. Martin is expert at the PR game.
The Independents will find it more difficult to coordinate their PR campaign and all relay the same message. If they fail to shift the blame before an election is called it could be a field day.
The blame stays with Martin. The shitehawkery with the policy document yesterday and the attempt to bully the Indos into backing him and calling Endaâs bluff plays very badly for him optics-wise
It might, but it might also be used to reinforce the FF/FG mantra that anyone apart from them is running to be in opposition.
