Ireland politics (Part 1)

Man of principle. Old school Workers Party background. Iā€™d imagine he never worked a day in his life.

Weak leadership from Kenny. If a legislator/prospective minister is not prepared to give an undertaking that he will comply with all laws of the land, shouldnā€™t be appointed to higher office.

What a load of utter bollocks. A cast iron mechanism for maintaining the status quo. Sure on that basis you couldnā€™t have had a homosexual minister 20 years ago.

Itā€™s daft on every level. FF and FG have had their fair share of criminals who were cabinet members. But of course that was mostly white collar crime.

While weā€™re at it, why not scrap the concept of tax clearance certificates and the requirement to furnish them when carrying out work for the State.

Iā€™d be all for that. Useless piece of red tape. In an era of self assessment, what is the value of a clearance certificate.

I understand the theory is that if a self employed person has not discharged all outstanding tax liabilities, they donā€™t get any State work until they do so. The same principle should be applied to Mr Halligan and his outstanding water charges bill.

Water charges arenā€™t a tax. They are a usage based payment to a semi state utility, like the ESB. Are you proposing that we check everyoneā€™s ESB bills as well?

Iā€™m looking forward to seeing how Kate reacts to the proposal under consideration that GPs be allowed to dispense prescription medicines from their practises

An auld hoormaster from local parts, long since relocated to Dublin, tells me that one of the new ministers is a regular client and is a serious deviant.

Where would they be hailing from?

Dublin.

Has this minister recently put his foot in his own big smoky mouth?

Poor Alan is not a happy bunny.

Heā€™s no more a Labour man anyways. Would be well suited in FG.

No. Itā€™s the other fella.

He has probably already joined FG but is using this an excuse to leave Labour.

Not one backer :joy:

Even Labour think heā€™s a cunt.

If he leaves Labour will have no speaking rights :grinning:

He only has himself to blame with his carry on.

If he leaves Labour, then the Labour party will have no speaking rights either. :joy:

Howlin has been announced as Labour Party leader
