Ireland politics (Part 2)

Thatā€™s on them, thatā€™s the way compo always works.

As regards getting local builders involved compo is ironically the best way of doing that, not a government tender.

That was originally the plan, but engineers are now saying that will not stop thr inner leaf and foundations from cracking and crumbling.

Is there evidence they were at it with standard pourable concrete as well?

Everything they supplied for x amount of years will crumble.

Those cunts should be in jail ffs.

Every wall, foundation or yard poured is going to go in shite now at some stage.

It is very hard to believe they were the only quarry at that.

@croppy_boy

What is the timeline they believe this carryon started & finished?

I havenā€™t seen one and donā€™t believe there is one.

The smart move, in my mind, would be to spread it out as much as possible. Get the very bad houses done as soon as possible and then move on to the next. And so on and so forth.

Doing this would ease the pressure of relocating families during the rebuild also.

Brings a new meaning to planned obsolescence.

Iā€™ve heard it was in some foundations but I donā€™t think that ots widespread.

The real issue, apparently, was using an additive to make the blocks dry quicker. Theyā€™re supposed to sit in the yard for at least two weeks to dry out properly but these Cassidy cunts were too greedy to wait that long.

13.5 billion in corporation tax this year

Not bad for a country where no companies pay tax

But those companies that are tax resident in Bermuda pay no tax in Ireland. Itā€™s a disgrace Joe.

FFG should really refrain from letting Hildegarde anywhere near a microphone.

She got a nawful filleting from Michael Fitzmaurice and David Cullinane on Katie Hannon earlier. The bould Katie hadnā€™t much sympathy for her shite either.

Lord Didsbury has spoken. I am on record here for many years criticizing MNCs and their lackeys in government for avoiding tax. Corp tax needs to be uniform, competitive and fair, your proposal of 40% is insanity given US and European companies are in competition with Asian companies whose tax rate is 20% or below.

Which individuals are you on about? 43% of UK residents pay no income tax, you would need to be on about 80k to pay the equivalent of the 19% current corp tax, and 100k to pay the new 25%. The only individuals moaning about high levels of income tax are those on high income.

The US has had a perfectly reasonable level of tax on MNCā€™s. You advocate undercutting it. Even you can surely see how this ends up.
Why is 40% tax on profits unreasonable?
I think itā€™s perfectly reasonable.
MNCā€™s are sitting on more money than they know what to do with.
You think theyā€™d pack it in if they could only keep 60% of their money?

You are saying that the taxpayers should pay to rebuild irrespective of the size

You think an achieved rate of 0% was reasonable? The nominal tax rate makes fuck all difference, itā€™s the actual tax paid that matters. Most of the largest MNCs have been paying zero taxes in the US for decades, especially tech companies like Amazon, Google, etc. I am advocating a tax system where taxes are actually paid as opposed to avoided. The 15% minimum tax is at least a step in the right direction, but all global loopholes need to be closed.

40% is unreasonable as I explained because it is out of step globally, the global average is 25% and the range in Asia is 15-25%. The main reason MNCs have sat on cash historically is because of the 38% tax rate in the US if it were repatriated. I would much prefer to see that cash used for R&D and growth initiatives. At the end of the day economic growth is the only thing that will lead to greater prosperity.

Where did you see that?A horrid mess, you could do the outer leaf in theory but the inner leaf I donā€™t think so. @Gman

Irish Twitter is a nawful place
