Ireland politics (Part 2)

A great example of group think there. All white Irish Middle class and middle aged. All chosen no doubt because they are a “safe pair of hands” and “won’t rock the boat”.

Diversity is always middle class.

Jordan Peterson was right on that one

Would you expect a maternity hospital to have a board of cutting-edge hellraisers? That is very beige collection though

You’d expect it not to have a fucking priest anyway after all the furor :joy:

No but you might expect it to have people from differing backgrounds to offer different perspectives.

Take the priest and the disgraced former Garda Commissioner out and no one would pay any heed.

I’d say a Venn diagram of their residential post codes would feature the numbers 4 and 6 heavily.
I looked it up because your man the deputy chair was on the radio yesterday and was very poor.

I would say that’s true alright. They didnt even bother throwing in a new irish or a working class person for appearance sake. The priest and Noirin o losaphone is taking the piss though

The problem with it is that they are not inclined to question any proposal made by someone from the same background to the full extent or to imagine how it might be perceived from someone from outside their bubble.

Now is a great time to be a middle aged woman with experience of sitting on boards. Cushdy numbers abound.

Cunt should be in jail.

Could a respected forum member (who’s able to set aside any political leanings that might impact their view) answer me this question?

Is the proposed ownership and operation of the new NMH actually grand or are the dissenters justified in their concerns?

I actually did think it was grand but the longer it goes on I’m being swayed by the messaging that maybe it isn’t. The argument around them not having effective ownership of the site though is rubbish, they are paying 10 quid a year for 300 years for it. That is essentially a freehold in legal terms, loads of property is owned (Inc resedential) this way under long leaseholds

In all fairness why would you want the hassle? It doesn’t pay that well and you’ll be hung out to dry when the shit hits the fan.

If you flip that…if they’re happy to lease the site for a tenner a year for 300 years, what’s stopping them from selling the site to the state for a token fee of €10x300 or even €15.99x300 or something to allay these concerns? The NMH in house legal adviser on Prime Time seemed to be saying this wasn’t possible due to boundary issues on site and how the NMH would be smack bang in the middle of it and surrounded on all sides by other hospital parts. But it’s hardly insurmountable?

a CPO seems the logical option but SVH may then get annoyed and not agree to collaborate with the NMH, on the other hand, having the church involved with the NMH seems outrageous

Best avoid the whole issue guys

They changed the legal agreement didn’t they?

Stephen Donnelly said yesterday that there would be no major changes. So some changes alright it seems, but nothing major
