Ireland politics (Part 2)

No way!

Leo, heather and Coveney not running.

Heathers a strange one only a few months into being deputy.

Somethings really off coveney gone too and leos sudden announcement last year of stepping down.

Paschal not running for leader was strange too.

I think that was more about realising that Harris was out of the blocks early and had it pretty much locked up

My tinfoil hat is ruffling here, is there something going on?

Over half of FGs sitting TDs arent running again yet they have destroyed SFs momentum ruining their chances with average joe voter

Could be a Liam Cahill style clear out but my Spidey sense is tingling. Won’t hear much analysis from Indo/RTE

Hoping the Leinster dads will have more insight before they start pointing over towards Sinn Fein

Only difference between Tipp and FG is FG arent up against a generational juggernaut, arguably the greatest team an other opposition ever had and a revival to the south.

I’ve a good friend working in the Taoiseach’s office and has been there since Bertie. Said Harris is the worst Taoiseach they’ve seen. Doesn’t get through the actual work of what a Taoiseach should do and is there to win the election. Works all the hours in the day so it isn’t his work ethic, he’s just a busy fool.

I’ve no particular insight but I’d say it’s a combination of things and more mundane than conspiracy. Firstly you had a host of new FG tds in 2011 so some are running out of steam or reaching retirement age. On top of that - when it looked like FG were going to get cleaned out about a year ago others reckoned it was a good time to head for the hills with the likelihood of either a ignominious exit in a count centre via baying shinners or scraping back in to sit in opposition.

Interesting take on it. I dont think the GE will be a disaster for them, itll be ff and ff in confidence of supply again with one of them in government circa the last dail.

Looking forward to McEntee as Taoiseach and Holly Cairns as Leader of the opposition some day. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I said sho looked like she’d been at the sherry in her video last week.

Funnily enough I was having a real life conversation in a car on Friday evening about 6pm where I was discussing what I perceive as the mismatch between the person in question’s face and the person in question’s voice.

I surmised that this person likely swore like a trooper and probably shouted a lot.

It’s funny with so many established names leaving FG that they still won’t select members who were elected in previous elections to run this time.

The one in the restaurant or have I gotten the totally wrong person altogether?
