Ireland politics (Part 3)

So he did it?

Or at least is very likely to have done it?

Did Paddy Jackson do it?

Were there people howling to burn down Ravenhill?

Is the defendant entitled to due process or is the appropriate reaction to burn down Citywest?

Here’s a question for you.

If the alleged assailant wasn’t an asylum seeker would you be as quick to dispute whether a crime occurred?

They’ll smash a few windows and burn a token couple of cars or abandoned buildings but in the grand scheme of things that’s all it’ll probably amount to. I doubt we’re going to see images of Asians or Africans hanging from trees or being burned at the stake.

The Oirish would do fuck all in reality. They could only muster a couple of hundred to join an organisation to free the country from the British a hundred years ago or to try to protect Catholics in the North.

I’d have the exact same view that due process should be followed.

Due process is about the right of an accused to representation and to dispute whether a crime occurred or not.

Do you support that right?

I also have the view that if, hypothetically, a member of a particular GAA club is accused of raping a 10 year old girl, the appropriate reaction is not to go burning down GAA clubhouses or hounding GAA members out of their homes.

You didn’t with the rioters in Dublin

Amazingly enough if there’s a video of somebody burning down a bus I’ll have the view that a crime was committed.

And then I still support due process.

Is there a video of this alleged rape?

This hasn’t gone well for you. Why do you feel the need to overreach?

Also, why was reference to this story put in the Politics thread rather than a Crime thread?

If the rioters are planning a protest/riot outside Leinster house, I’d be grateful if they could get going asap. It’s no good to me after 5 tbh

In fairness are you not presupposing that by reading that into the statement?

I’d say it’s also possible that they are trying to mitigate immediate negative PR given the last few weeks for them. They do deal with difficult cases and I’m not sure that they can held totally responsible for everything bad that happens ā€œunder their watchā€.

Of course I support that right.

And part of that process is the charging of the individual which has occurred in this case very quickly.

This would indicate that there is pretty substantial evidence on which to prove the crime’s existence and the individual’s guilt.

And no, I don’t support burning down Citywest unless there is a pile of Oi Oi Oi fans in it.

Everyone is a peado . except the actual peados it seems :man_shrugging:

I support you getting due process in regard to the child abuse you’ve publicly boasted about on this forum.

A thought provoking tweet

Who is that Danny fella?

Is he saying that the poor girl was sexually asaaulted but wasnt raped yet the mirror inititally alleged it was raped?

Horrible situation and hard not to think the state failed that girl on a number of fronts

Yes it seems that the Mirror were inaccurate and irresponsible in their reporting, probably in an effort to generate clicks
