Ireland v Germany

if you ever got off your hole and attended a football match in ireland sometime instead of spouting whatever shit you hear on skysports ad nauseum you would see that we do produce good players in this country… cunt

we do produce good players cunt but we could produce more if:
[]we didnt send our best players off to a technical backwater as children
[
]
[]overcame the lack of money to invest in youth football here because the Irish football fan spends their money subsidizing Englishmen football
[
]

the weather conditions lead to kick and rush as being the most logical style for most managers.we need better facilities to overcome this

I think we should play far more football on astro at underage level. The stuff they have in Malahide for example is superb and far more beneficial to kids than the pretence of playing on a “proper grass” pitch which is really just a muddy dandelion patch.

Funny seeing us compared to the likes of Greece. That’s where everyone expects us to be for some reason but we’re way behind on every criteria and the only thing closing the gap is the relative over achievement of the national team.

Thanks I didn’t really give a fuck what you had to say I was just trying to catch you out.

tine for a rebranding Gola if you have come to this

anyone who has ever coached a socccer team in this country will tell you that a huge problem here is that teams at all levels from u-7 to u-13 are primarily obsessed with winning and very little thought goes into developing the actual skills of the kids.
The sense of competition in kids football in ireland is incredible, parents are a huge issue also who just want their kids to get medals and if they see their kid is anyway decent will keep on changing his club in order to get him the coverted “trials” accross the water
.
In cork and dublin , the big clubs like St.kevins’s boys, cherry orchard, home farm, leeds, cork city, mayfield utd and springfield ramblers tend to hoover up all the talent from the u-15s and put them into these super clubs that completely dominate all the titles at u-16 / u-17 at a national level. these are the club teams in ireland that the scouts from the UK are looking at and each year many guys will head over to clubs like Forest ( if it in cobh) .

i have seen kids in tears at u-11 as their parents are yelling at them on the line for not wining a tackle in midfield, I almost got a box one morning for substituting a fella and one of the worst things i saw was at an u-12 game where a small lad we had playing on the left wing had his ankle broken ( deliberatly) in a cup game… ( why the fuck are u-12 playing cup games you would ask).

i help a few lads look after an u-14 team here in jerusalem and the system is a lot different, there is very little competitive football before u-15. Futsal is a big thing out here for the kids, as is 3 touch max ,7 aside where the ball cannot be above 2 meters off the ground and goals can only be scored like hockey inside a certain scoring area.

isnt one of the major problems that the schoolboys clubs distrust the League and vice versa

the big schoolboys clubs mindset is that getting players to england is the ultimate success and the schoolboys league managements facilitate this

the FAI should try to reign in all these personal fiefdoms and aim to have all leagues trying to achieve the same thing

anyone here ever try to get their coaching badges from the FAI?
Paul Byrne who used to play with Southend and Celyic is very involved in this and was down at our club at home for a few sessions with the coaches last season, its something ill try and do if i ever get home soon

The much maligned Richie sadlier basically said exactly this the other night on off the ball. Was a good piece with him on it actually.

correct
the success of a big schoolboys club is judged on how many players they send accross the water then actually taking the “backward” step of joining a LOI club.

The problem with the LOI clubs is that they have very little identity with the local community, Cork were on to something in 2003-2005 under Pat Dolan and Rico where 8 of the starting 11 were local lads, city were averaging 5k people at a game and winning leagues, then the thing fell apart with huge wages been paid to tryto buy into the CL and the club went bust , now the team is just a bunch of LOI journeymen, a few local lads who would struggle to get on the Avondale United MSL side ( albeit avondale would probably win the LOI first div if they were bothered entering), is run by a Sinn Fein counciller and no one gives a shit once again…

another striking fact is that most LSL and MSL clubs dont want to join the LOI first division !!
this is a most bizarre situation, its like the conference winners not wanting to joing league 2 as they know itll bankrupt their club, destroy their youth system and alienate them from the community,
the LOI first division is a graveyard, no young player desires to play in it, no scouts watch it and no one wants to be pat of it

The Germans won’t be able to cope with Robbie:

:o
Totti-esque

That’s a cracking goal from a superstar.

Glenn Whelan has gone off injured for Stoke at Anfield.

That celebration never gets old, classic Robbie

I hope his career is finished

St Ledger is out. Ciaran Clark has been called up in his place. From the highlights of tyhe Spurs Villa match yesterday he looked woeful

Clark isnt up to it Im afraid

Was hoping he might develop into a decent player but he has looked pretty shit every time I have seen him in the last year or so.

The lad is stealing a living as a professional footballer

Germany -1 @ 13/10 looks very attractive at this stage.

Anyone going? In two minds at the minute but will probably end up wandering down. I presume tickets will be plentiful.
