Grenada. :joy:

Why are ireland playing a tv channel?

I heard the announcement this game would take place some weeks ago but I heard it exclusively through the medium of radio.

Ireland’s opponents were announced on the radio as “Granada” (it was probably Valerie Wheeler) and given the game was to take place in Spain I therefore assumed it was the Spanish club team Granada we were playing.

It’s only now I find out this game is against the national team of the place Ronald Reagan invaded on the rebound in 1983 to try to get people to forget the US Army had just been chased out of Lebanon.

It is pronounced Grenayda.

How in the name of fuck did we end up playing Grenada?

If Delaney had come up with this you’d be saying he was getting a kick back or something.

It’s not like there are loads of immigrants from there living here. They have a population of 140k total.

It’s bizarre.

I think this first game is outside a designated international window so possibly limited in who they could line up as opposition.

Former Rovers chief John Martin who is mentioned in the deal is now with FAI

Ireland played in a training ground friendly against Real Murcia ‘B’ this afternoon, with goals from Millencic Alli and Adam Idah securing a 2-0 win

Alli was one of a number of uncapped players to start the match, alongside Rory Finneran, Tayo Adaramola, and Josh Keeley.

Here was the Ireland starting XI:
Josh Keeley; Dara O’Shea, Mark McGuinness, James Abankwah; Tayo Adaramola, Jason Knight, Rory Finneran, Chiedozie Ogbene; Andrew Moran, Millenic Alli, Adam Idah

Killian Cahill, Jack Moylan, and Aidomo Emakhu were the uncapped players that featured off the bench.
