Ireland v Kazakhstan - Tuesday, October 15th

Noel King says the 4-2-3-1 formation will be retained but we’ll obviously be set up in a more attacking manner.

Keane remains doubtful and Pilkington has withdrawn from the squad. Dunne and O’Shea are available again after suspension.

Looking forward to seeing some of the Shakhter Karagandy players in the flesh again.

Bizarre article by Paul Rowan in The Sunday Times saying Gibson and McCarthy enhanced their burgeoning reputations against Germany. I’d drop both of them.

think ill come home for this vital qualifier as ive no intention of seeing northern ireland in israel
will there be tickets left for it?

Nonsense from Rowan.

Nothing wrong with the formation but the selection was bizarre the other night. Doyle has been getting a bit of praise, and he did ok, but presumably the intention was to occupy Lahm and keep him pinned back and it had zero effect on curtailing his runs forward. He was constantly on the ball in our half.

I think Anto has the last two. PM him asap.

Johan Cruyff will be there as a guest of the FAI and will formally take over before Christmas.

That would be epic! #toogoodtobetrue

Robbie Keane returned to training today. He needs to be unleashed with Stokes.

I hope we get a record crowd there for this game, I fear it could be our last time to see our greatest ever player wear the famous shirt :frowning:

arriving in dublin tuesday morning, desperately in need of a ticket:(

It’d be good alright. Even better if he still smoked and wore that long mac.

In fairness, he’s probably seen Brady, Reid, Stokes, Gibson, McCarthy and Coleman do their stuff this season and watched 6 Irish lads win the U-19 Champions League last season with Villa (which Ajax entered) and thought this looks like a country that could play with flair, guile and beat the shit out of plodders like Sweden and Austria.

The Irish Times report that Noel King is unlikely to be able to accommodate both “crowd pleasers” Andy Reid and Wes Hoolahan in the side.

I’d go with this team:

Westwood,
Coleman, St Ledger, Dunne, Wilson,
Green, McGeady,
Long, Stokes, McClean,
Keane.

I like the way you’ve added a goal threat by playing Dunne and St Ledger.

Any tickets going?

13/2 Kazakhiastan draw no bet has to be a super bet. I can see this clown King leaving the Aviva to a chorus of boos.

I’d change Long for McCarthy.

Fat boy Reid has been exposed by yet another manager

Im sure everyone involved in this world cup campaign will breath a huge sigh of relief that its over when the Ref blows the final whistle tomorow night. I think we will win this and hopefully finish on some sort of high.

Should king give a few of the fringe players a game tomorrow night considering it will be the last competitive match for a year?

I’m not paying @Anto €405 to watching fucking fringe players. I want to see Glenn and Robbie

You’re being very harsh on poor Noel King. He has been given a thankless job. I hope the handful of fans that turn up tomorrow don’t round on him.

True, but he is making an awful clown of himself. He’s like a chap who has won a raffle where the first prize is to manage Ireland for two meaningless matches. Or like Amanda Brunker in Celebrity Bainisteoir.
