If we play with the same energy we did the other night, I think we should get a win here. Luxembourg are definitely not as weak as they once were; they’ve beaten Cyprus & Montenegro recently but obviously it’s an absolute must-win.

Do we have the guile to break down a team who sit in? I don’t know that for sure, we’ll need a lot more from Stevens & Doherty in an attacking sense and will need to commit men forward. I think if we play with a high tempo & energy, we’ll get enough chances to win.

Badly need Portugal to get a win away to Serbia but it smacks of a 1-1 to me.

They’ve been getting better over here the last few years. Last time I saw them was the night Germany put 6 past us in the Bedpan. I didn’t want to watch that, knowing what was in store so I went to watch Lux v Israel here. They’d recently had an improvement in results and were expecting to do well but got battered 6-0. Still though, things have been improving for a while.
