Correct call from Kenny with Travers. Great to see Knight starting.

Is 2 sub goalies the new normal ??

2 sub goalies in internationals as long as I can remember

Positive selections I think.

I see on Twitter some are suggesting it is 4-2-3-1 with Doherty on the right wing. I can understand the logic of not playing three at the back of Luxembourg are only playing one up top but playing Doherty as a winger seems odd if it is the case.

Assume it will be three at the back

Couldn’t argue against any of the changes really. Would still have found room for Brady but I think there are probably enough changes after a reasonable performance.

Dropping Travers shows seriously mental weakness from Kenny.

The opposite.

Happy with that team selection too.

Ireland Ireland Ireland.

Doherty is simply not a winger, hopefully it is 3-5-2 again. Think there was enough shown to persist with it.

It would be ridiculous to switch back to 4 at the back

A fine piece by James McDermott (brother of the late Paul Anthony, I think) on Luxembourg soccer in the Paper of Record yesterday. He stated that only three nations have competed in every single World Cup Qualifying campaign and they’re all in the same qualifying group this time around - Eire, Luxembourg and Portugal.

3412 according to TOD

Why would it be so few Dan?

About 25 of the countries either didn’t exist, or existed in a different guise, for a lot of competitions. Earlier World Cups were by invitation instead of qualification, also.

That’s just the Baldoyle bias.
