Alan Browne isnāt better than McGeady anyway. Itās not even close. I get heās never going to be picked now but the idea that McGeady wouldnāt have a field day against a Bundesliga 3 wing back is nonsense. We struggle to create chances but wouldnāt consider McGeady a better option than some of the pedestrian players we choose instead. And still talk about trying to play football the right way.
The football Kenny wants to play seems to be based on possession stats, not anyone actually doing anything on the ball.
We were giving out about McGeady ten years ago ffs. And again they arenāt in competition for the same place. McGeadys having a good season in LEAGUE ONE. The same level as Bundesliga 3
Collins is probably our best performing striker at the moment which says a lot. Stevens was a regular under Mick and good for the last 2 years or so for Ireland
I thought lads were ball hopping about bringing McGeady back inā¦ but my God they are genuinely trying to make a case for itā¦ this really is rock bottom.
Id agree on McGeady but lads forget Shane Longās goal v Germany was 6 years ago. Totally finished. For the games in June , Kenny should be brave and drop all the old guard.
Heās in League one because of wages. And exactly itās the same level. So he might equally find tonightās opponents arenāt too difficult for him. Why would we expect heād struggle against Luxembourg? Because Browne and Collins and others found that level too tough a nut to crack.
Kenny Cunningham seems to have been convinced that this was a tough game tonight. Theyāre well organised but Christ we make it easy for them by doing nothing. And we donāt gamble or take chances on the ball and we arenāt picking players who do that.
Iām not expecting McGeady to be picked but I absolutely believe heās an awful lot better than most of that squad and would create a lot more than the mediocrity weāve picked instead.
