I have little time for this abortion of a āsportā but I saw a headline that the mighty Luxembourg had only managed a 1-0 victory over the pitiful ROI.

Thereās still a role for him given our lack of options. But we canāt play through him really because heās not really good enough and heās careless. He gets into the box well in fairness which isnāt something we are doing regularly. But I think weāve seen all weāre going to see in terms of output.

The difference being that Hoolahan was good for us. McGeady scored a lovely goal away to Georgia but not another single thing in his time with Ireland.
Soccer is an unusual sporting set up in comparison to say county football or international rugby. They are the peaks of their respective sport international football isnāt. Especially in a country where none of the players live here. Creating a bit of unity of purpose is essential going forward and thatās what I really liked about the Kenny project. He actually knew and cared about the game in this country. Heād know all the best players at all levels and could create a unified approach to bringing them through. Obviously itās going horribly wrong for him and he seems very uninspiring but in theory heās the right man for the job. Or someone like him.

I would argue that the people saying he wasnāt good enough was indicative of the Irish trait of preferring a lad who runs around like a hare than a lad that might lose the ball because theyāre actually trying something productive

Heās smart enough Kenny to be blaming the formation as the narrative. Thereās more to our problems than the formation. Including the formations that ensured we didnāt win any of the other matches under him either.
Iām even more ashamed to say I turned it on, realised it was utterly dire within 10 mins, and went back to super League.
