TBF to @Rocko heā€™s actually been bizarrely fanboyying mcgeady consistently for a long long time looking at his posts. That was the one chink in the armour. The Internet is cruel though

McGeady bore the ire of idiots because he was Irelandā€™s sole creative outlet. He was different level to Wes. A player who starred at a European level.

Iā€™m not calling him the messiah. I can see why he wasnā€™t picked when we were playing better and more direct under previous managers but Iā€™d have always had him in the squad.

We now have fewer options and a greater need for a player who can beat a man and play an incisive pass. McGeady is the best Irish player at doing that currently. But weā€™re sticking with guys who arenā€™t capable of it instead.

What id give for a prime McGeady now. We have no one with that quality.

@Rocko is right. Weā€™re picking a midfield of runners and expecting to break down teams using intricate play. If we want to play like this you need a few players with a bit of skill which McGeady has. Wes Hoolahan should probably still be in the squad too for the last 15 minutes of games. Now thereā€™s no point bringing them in at this stage

I thought he was loose and didnā€™t show for it enough if weā€™re going to be playing a possession game.

I thought Molumby had more of a cut about him in Belgrade.

All the mid three were poor enough. The 3-5-2 is a wing backs formation though and that was the killer.

I thought he was good, probably our best after Coleman but isnā€™t a holding midfielder. I think he has far more about him than Molumby and younger
