Ireland v Luxembourg - the Piles Derby

While I think he will be afforded more time I don’t think he particularly deserves it and the problem with leaving him in place is that morale will only continue to drop and get more off field issues will emerge. That isn’t the type of set up you want the younger players exposed to as things will turn toxic

Delaney again…

Be no harm to go back to a smaller ground, they only fill avivia when the likes of @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy jump on the bandwagon for a big game.

Great post and it looks like you’ve been proved completely right on Kenny in fairness. However the ā€˜idea’ of Kenny is definitely the right one I think. In theory he’s exactly whats needed. Someone who actually knows the game in this country, respects the players, cares about underage development, takes a more overall view of the whole thing bar immediate results etc. We are one of very few countries where next to none of our players play domestically so we need a different approach to countries who just hire the best first team coach available.

Agreed. Tallaght is a fine little stadium and they could look to rent out the aviva or the RDS or Thomond, or even the Sports grounds if they had a big game

It should be remembered that wealthy Irish people in general are a disgrace.

If JP McManus had anything about him he’d have Treaty United in the Champions League Group Stage every second year.

Did Matty pony up the 250k?

We’ve never stopped begging second generation English lads to play for us, the ones who might make a difference just don’t want to play for us anymore, like Grealish, Rice, Bamford, Redmond.

Basketball in Ireland is thriving

Bring back Bernard

That is why I honestly hoped Kenny stayed in the 21s gig for as long as he could. The group that is currently there are straight out of under 19s for the most part and have two campaigns of eligibility I’m pretty sure.

Too many have been fast tracked to senior when they are still 18 months at least away from being at that level.

His media utterances, the coaching staff shuffling, the covid stuff, the motivational video stuff are all indicators that for all he is trying his best he simply isn’t up to it and it is all a bit amateur hour stuff - that is before we look at what is happening on the pitch

Duff was right to get away from this shitshow

Isn’t a fella entitled to talk out of both sides of his mouth? It’s the TFK way

Do you genuinely think any sane parent would let their 8 year old while away 10 years in a LoI academy for the end result of earning 150€ a week part time to play in The Carlisle Grounds?

There is a practice in the English clubs of bringing in players that they know will never make it. They need the numbers for squads. Lots of young Irish lads get brought over. Often officials sit with the family and try talk them out of it when they know well the kid isn’t up to it. But who’s going to disallow their child from what seems like following their dream. Tough and lonely place for a lot of those kids to be, it often doesn’t go well.

We have nothing to lose by giving Kenny the rest of this campaign so I think we should do so. 3 wins and decent performances against Azerbaijan and Luxembourg in the remaining games are essential for him to continue after that

Mick’s last campaign had Didsy as a target man. We don’t have anyone now who can play that role so even a pragmatic manager would have difficulty getting up the pitch.

Yeah that makes plenty of sense. Is he the best/only of the type of fella I was talking about though? Kerr was obviously of a similar ilk but at least in his day we had a number of players playing at a high standard so there was an argument a good coach a la trap was what was needed. Now we need a kerr/Kenny type to take a bigger picture/developmental view.

I wonder what video Kenny made the team sit through last night?

Sure what’s their alternative if their first sport is soccer?

You’re probably right, sadly.
