Ireland v Netherlands - Sunday, 7.45pm

Big Sam ticks the League of Ireland box & is one of our own so he’d get the likes of @Ralphie & the grassroots brigade on side. Great to bring players & managers through from the system.

An immense amount of football heritage he is trying to displace. The semi competitiveness against the top sides makes the other results look worse. Fair play to Didi for calling it out again tonight.

That isnt the worst squad, Martin O’Neill had worse I’d contend. Brady, Hendrick and a 101 year old Houlihan were the stars.

In the analysis, he called Ireland ‘us’. The type of behaviour that would have lads around here label him as a footix

Are you being sincere there? Because they better not bring another complete and utter fucking mug in

Lads here screaming for Manning for years. Very poor when he came on.

Didi played with and against great Irish players

We do have decent attacking options but we are not by any means a team that will score a lot of goals. We’re too open at the back and that problem is exaberated by our midfield options. Goals seem to be going in from distance all the time under Stephen Kenny.

Interesting group of players there, new appointment might surprise. I think people will want it. Its on the floor.

I think it has to happen now. No point in dragging it out. Being out of contention for world cups and euros with a number of games to go simply isnt good enough or acceptable.

That has to be the bottom line.

It is terrible the way the domestic league is going to be conflated with Stephen Kenny after this though. That’s wrong. Domestic game suffers cos Kenny can’t set up a team.

I think Kenny should stay for another campaign. He has us playing some decent stuff at times he’s just been very unlucky

Sure he’s commonly regarded as the leagues greatest ever manager

Spock is gas in a way.

Eases Duffy out for the last two years & strongly promotes O’Shea. This camp he restores Duffy & jettisons O’Shea & Duffy costs us tonight.

Throws Smallbone in from the start in Greece but we get tactically destroyed & Smallbone is scapegoated & benched for the subsequent games.

Restores Doherty to the starting lineup tonight after his suspension for getting sent off in Greece on purpose & he was strongly culpable for the first goal. But he’s been loyal to suspect characters like Doherty from the outset at the expense of dependable, solid types like Coleman at times.

Not just the questionable judgment when it comes to choosing his leaders, he’s a wonderful habit of hitching himself to someone unexpectedly/bringing someone into the starting team from nowhere & it all going tits up. O’Dowda left back in the back 5 in Greece was another example. I don’t think anyone saw that going well.

Don’t joke about the most important team in the country. They could be paying some idiot to record shit like that. Fora are on the downswing but still.

A couple of idiots on Newstalk got us here, after hearing the guy speak as well, still.

huh?

a flop at SRFC

mclaughlin & o’neil way better

Its almost like he is making it up as he goes along.

An old work manager in Dublin who was a glasgow rangers fanatic had no intention of having his son play gaelic games brought his young son to soccer practice. He said the setup was that bad, he refused to bring his kid back. Coaches swearing at the kids, terrible amenities, lack of volunteers and a shortage of bibs, cones and all the rest.
Then, he reluctantly brings his kid to gaelic football practice which was his kid’s first choice and he said the difference was night and day.
The FAI is struggling, Rugby and Gaelic games is sucking up the kids who would’ve played soccer if they had their house in order. We’re churning out players who at their best play mostly in sub-standard leagues compared to the 90’s and early 2000’s.
The game is done for in this country, unless a new, competent board of management is installed in the FAI and the culture changes within it.

We have to go back abroad again now because the public won’t take another domestic appointment. He has set the likes of Bradley back 10 years. That isn’t tonight, that’s results like Lux, its sad, decent man but the wrong appointment. He should’ve been in someone elses backroom probably.

There is huge scope for improvement in that team. They’ll be at the World Cup in 26’.

is it aye?
