Got the train from the romantic heart of Ireland for tonight’s game. It’s great to be back in Dublin. What a fine place it is. I’ve great memories of my time here.
The palpable sense of what should have been is torturous though. Tonight should have been one of the biggest nights of the year for the entire country. Nothing moves the dial like the MNT. Absolutely nothing. They represent every one of us. We just weren’t ruthless enough on Thursday. Being a Galway hurling supporter, I know all about this. Maybe some day we’ll learn.
I only console myself that the WC in ‘30 will be in our time zone and not hosted by a malignant self serving pedophile.
But by god this really hurts.
