We used to be so well set-up for set pieces too. We tended to score from them rather than concede in the MON era.

I suppose we conceded from that smart set piece play against the Scotā€™s in 2014 when Maloney curled it in but that wasnā€™t a put it in the mixer per se.

Spock out

Kenny always reminds me of the pub putdown I heard years ago.
ā€˜niall Quinn is absolutely shiteā€™
ā€˜hes better than youā€™.
His starting point in commentary is that the Irish players are the best players in the country and are very good at football. Heā€™s totally unique in his positivity about ā€˜averageā€™ professional players. Probably because he was one himself he appreciates the small details that means they are better than 99.99999pc of people in this country who play the game. Heā€™s the polar opposite to the likes of ray Houghton and Ronnie Whelan

Absolute no creativity at all in midfield. The future looks bleak. Egan woeful for the goal.

Iā€™d take Kenny and his ā€œone v one situationsā€ over those miserable sods

Not one piece of coherent football, less alone an incisive move or a good chance/effort. Weā€™ve had one shot, a wild left footed effort from Robinson from broken play. Dire stuff.

Need to get Ogbene on for Robinson, the latter has continuously given away possesion in the first half and there is zero chemistry or communication between him and Obafemi.

You dont understand what kenny is tryjng to do mate, we are transitioning from playing stoneage football, this is actually fantastic

Thatā€™s a huge change from your usually positive outlook around the future of this team. I think thereā€™s some great young players in the squad. Unfortunately very few of them are in midfield. What we wouldnā€™t give to have a 22 year old John Giles/Roy Keane or Liam Brady right now.

Its what @Aertel220 and the Newstalk generation wants

Hamann laying into them

Hamann scathing here. No point in having 250 passes in your own half. No penetration. As bad as heā€™s seen.

@Aertel220 and the newstalk generation saying the possesion stats are good

292 completed passes

I doubt Spain with Xavi et al dominated the ball that much in a half

Need to beg o neill to come back.

We donā€™t have the players

Iā€™ve been sceptical of Spock for the last two years!:joy:Iā€™m fairly sure youā€™ve been sympathetic to him on these pages before.
