Shane Long hasn’t an ounce of football in him. He ten times worse in the flesh than he looks on TV, there was one stage tonight where he was running in behind the defence for about 15 yards after we had lost the ball, going miles offside in the process, he is utterly devoid of composure or any semblance of technique.
Shane Long was the saviour not so long ago according to many Irish ‘fans’. I think it was Coleman after that, McCarthy after that, McLean after that.
I would only rate Coleman and McCarthy as being decent and McCarthy is not really someone who excels in a 4-4-2. Irish football is at a very low point right now and there needs to be a big change in the way the game is being coached at grass roots.
There aren’t too many players who can come in and improve this team right now - Stokes and McGeady are the only two I can think of. I thought tonight really showed how devoid of ideas we were without the outlet of McGeady for all the flak he takes, he is the only player who consistently shows for the ball and shows the commitment to do something creative.

I said decent. Those cunts have not done anything since 2008.[/quote]

All the people who criticised robbie keane over his career won’t have too long more to wait before they get a serious less on on how good he is.
There is no chance the old bluffer will quit and the fai don’t have the money to part him off.
It’s hard to build up money when you are paying delaney and bringing children from all over the country To dublin for club games

Is his contract only until September though?
If so fuck him out with the remainder of the contract and let someone else have a crack.
