Yikes from Sykes.
OâShea has failed the audition
Knight was very poor
If you could put Sykes pace and power into Johnston youâd have a passable winger
Game but limited and has had enough chances
He was terrible
Sheazy out
Mick âat least he knows all the playersâ. Jesus surely thereâs more qualifications needed.
With OâShea and Collins pace-they should quit the 3 at the back
No goal in two games.
That Ogbene fuck up after a couple of mins v Belgium looks to have put the kabosh on things .
Hopefully the Poles deal with Giggsyâs lads here
Collins or Obama-dembele could play the holding midfielder role comfortably enough Iâd say
Goalkeeper unsettled the back 4. Heâll surely be no.2 from here out.
Coleman is becoming one of those nicely cantankerous older players since his pace has gone. Still mixing it & playing well but committing loads of fouls due to being beaten for pace & then berating ref & opponents.
Bazunu was disappointing for the goal.
Irelandâs passing was absolutely brutal in the first half. Any hint of a press & we coughed it up & there were loads of occasions when simple passes went astray under little pressure too.
Good cameo by Idah there.
The lack of guile in midfield is killing the team. I think weâll need to have a look at playing someone centrally off a striker in the ANDY REID / WES HOOLAHAN role who can play a bit. Dunno if Azaz or Szmodics could do it.
Donât think youâll score enough goals against half decent sides without having someone central who can pick a pass. Most organised sides can defend crosses & clipped balls down the channels.
Ferguson is woefully out of form. Very low on confidence and way too easy play against tonight. He gets manoeuvred out of the way far too easily. Hopefully gets a break soon and scores at club level,
Mikey Johnston has been excellent in his short Ireland career so far. Would be a bit weird to get rid of him based on a friendly
Confidence is shattered. Could do with a summer break.
I missed this eveningâs match and only caught some of âStueyâsâ post match analysis on Off the Ball on the way home.
Did Andrew Moran get a run at all? He was being hyped up seriously by @EstebanSexface last year
He wonât go past a top full back I donât think. He isnât really a massive outlet or a big presser. Heâd be better in a team that dominates posession which I donât think Ireland will do against top 20 or 30 teams.
He is one for home games against smaller countries, against a low block when Ireland have plenty of ghe ball.
I think it was @Bandage said after his debut that Johnston is a great player off the bench to mix things up but often struggles as a starter. Seems to be following the same trend with his Ireland career
