Idah oirelands best
He should be very important against smaller teams and a decent option off the bench against good teams. We donât have enough depth to be getting rid of him altogether
I wonât deny saying that but I canât remember it & donât think I agree with it. Johnstonâs been okay for Ireland & thatâs what he isâŚokay. I dunno whatâs going on at West Brom where heâs banging in screamers but itâs an unusual/outlier based on his career to date.
That wonât last surely.
Man of the match for Coleman was generous. They were fairly gliding past him a few times.
Idah made a good impression when he came on. But as I said at half time and as the astute @Bandage has said we need another central option rather than two wing backs and two wide attackers. We donât really have a natural player for that role but it makes it very hard to create chances if everything has to go wide.
The likes of Knight were nearly killing him with underhit passes and passes behind him. He did well at this hour of his life.
Nothing about the white guy who missed the penalty ehâŚ.interesting.
Zero goals scored from play and zero goals conceded from play is an improvement.
A string of players are coming out supporting Sheasyâs candidacy now in a coordinated Si Harrisesque manner.
Where does Matt Doherty come down, this will be key for me.
The Doc holds a lot of sway in the dressing room
Sheasys played this one lovely.
At this stage the fact that he actually wants the job would seem to single him out
This is important too; Johnston will be valuable going forward if he can replicate his form at West Brom. Because he can beat a player in tight spaces, we have very few that can do that.
We really struggle against weaker sides because we donât have a hint of creativity in our team and Johnston at least offers that.
His ball striking, delivery, general passing is very hit and miss though. He can beat a man (of a certain level) on the inside and create a little bit of seperation before getting a shot away. Thats him.
What Iâd hope is that Ireland are pinning back these teams; he does this and adds to his repetoire of crosses when he cuts in.
Kasey McAteer of Leicester should help in that department. Playing well before injury.
You must have put about 100 different lads forward as saviours at this stage
Iâve seen a little bit of him and I think he might be a better option. Ireland need to move away from one-paced, small lads.
The Swiss, Scots, Poles et cetera are all fairly powerful physically.
The likes of Knight, Jinky and Cullen-you can maybe carry Cullen. You need power around those guys.
I swear to God he makes up a few lads just to see if anyone twiggs.
Conor Coventry is the future
