Ireland vs Finland/England

I’m taking the positives from last night anyway. Yes we played shit and yes we were up against a shit team who totally outplayed us. BUT, the same often happened with Spock at the wheel/helm and we ended up losing. Instead we are after beating a team from an actual country (rather than whatever Gibraltar is) home and away in competitive games. We wont qualify for the word cup but, if we are in a group of five and we beat the Gibraltar/San Marino level team in the group home and away, and ALSO the Finland/Norn Iron/Iceland level team home and away, we land ourselves on 12 points and at least keep it somewhat interesting for a bit, rather one of those zombie campaigns where it’s over before it started

The one thing is I’d say that Saudi team had more juice than Tropicana

The team looks like it can score goals again at least. Smozdicks playing of Ferguson is the best front pairing since Keane and Doyle.

There is no hope of us keeping a clean sheet. Far too many gaps. They’ll play through us with ease.

Last night was the first game I was at in years. I thought there were lots of positives, it’s a very honest group of players and there are a few fellas you can build around properly. A decent midfielder could transform the side, the 2 lads in there are whole-hearted but have neither the ability or engine needed for that level.

Some of the third or fourth string guys like Rogers could be first teamers by World Cup. They’ve probably the most depth of anyone

Agree wholeheartedly with this. We could properly unleash the front two if we could get a decent holding player

A Declan Rice type player?

He said decent.

+1. Spock failed to do the double against Luxembourg, Azerbaijan and Armenia. He also lost twice to Finland.

Try Nathan Collins in that role.

Fuck me, sure Glen Kamara pulled the strings in midfield last night :joy:

Evan could do with a good loan deal for a few months. You can tell he’s just not fully sharp.

In fairness he played in a Europa League final a couple of years ago.

They don’t make em like that anymore
