Yeah definitely the most endearing thing about is he actually takes it seriously. Didn’t finish well for kerr though
the players wanted to be playing golf or table tennis instead of watching videos of the opposition with Kerr.
I didn’t see so much of a second of either game due to other commitments but good to see two positive results. Next month will be a good barometer as to where things are headed. One thing that seems evident from media utterances is that the group that is there are playing for each other and the manager albeit it is a lot easier to do when there is only pride at stake and not the pressure which comes on when in the mix to qualify late in the campaign which many teams buckle under. But as it is the case Kenny should get another campaign barring two really flat showings next month.
The biggest asset Irish teams had always been spirit and togetherness and if that can be harnessed Irish teams will always be competitive and punch above their weight. Can they build on this is the question? Steve Staunton looked to have turned a corner with home wins over Wales and Slovakia and a 4-0 friendly win away to Denmark before it all unraveled again
You’ll be signing into the TFK pivot thread soon enough.
he’ll be changing his username to Bossman_Steo
We will see, I doubt it. We created as many chances in Big Mick’s two friendlies in charge with scratch teams out against two similar standard teams in Bulgaria and New Zealand as we did this week but that doesn’t really suit the narrative.
Will you be performing a similar pirouette yourself?
Will you stop, we have not controlled a game like we did last night, against any sort of opposition, in a long long time. Some of the play was really excellent. This shite that it’s only Qatar (cc @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy) is irrelevant because it is against the likes of average teams like Qatar that we used to seriously seriously struggle to break down, under all recent previous managements
I’ve been backing Kenny since the start
New Zealand are 121st in the World
Qatar are 43rd
Did we not dominate that New Zealand match under Mick in the last campaign? Was a very one sided game.
Bulgaria are a similar standard to Qatar and New Zealand to Azerbaijan. They were four nothing games in the grand scheme of it where there were four good performances.
Bulgaria are ranked 30 places below Qatar.
They didn’t put in a tackle all night. Its completely different to a qualifier against Georgia or someone
who didn’t put in a tackle? Qatar were filthy last night, Ogbene, Robinson and McGrath were fouled constantly because they couldn’t handle them
I didn’t say he was the finished article mate, only that he had huge potential, which he doesn’t seem to have fulfilled yet.
Yes I worded that wrongly in fairness, they took down Robinson a load of times. I still don’t think they were as organised or as up for it as a Georgia would be for example. The Luxembourg game next month is the key one really to see how it’s going although I’d give Kenny the next campaign regardless
I reckon Qatar took a dive last night, what with it being such a big night for the FAI.
Azerbaijan were very well organised, we played a grand away game, setup well ourselves and smashed them on the break.
That wasn’t very different to the last set of games where we had no fucker to put the ball in the goals. If Robinson wasn’t around this week we’d have the same issues
