Ireland's Greatest Sporting Moment 1962-2012

McAteer’s (the cunt) goal against the Dutch should be in there.

They spent their time about this apparent great sporting moment talking about national anthems ffs. “Never heard it sung with such gusto” as they show Trimble and Best with not a peep out of them.

Very true. Ireland hammered a crap English team aswell.

In fairness they had to get them in somehow. Twas either a friendly victory or some of them singing a song.

The Oirish fascination with a goal in a once off game is ridiculous. Regardless of the fact its rugby, the Ireland England Rugby game in Croke Park was historic as it would have been if it was soccerball.

Of the 5 listed tonight, Harringtons is by far the best but it won’t win on the basis that golf isn’t a sport and the snowflakes have little care for golf outside of McIlpube.

The 2 rubby moments will run away with this.
No soccer moment of note between 2000 and 2012.
The panel are discussing Saipan where a whole hape of soccer lads made a Holy fucking show of the country, probably my favorite Soccer moment of all time but didn’t make the cut.

That MGMT song is a belter.

The semi-final between Dublin and Armagh was one of the most tense sporting events I’ve ever attended.

It was the first time I ever experienced the three seated sides of the new Croke Park erupt in unison at the final whistle following a Dublin defeat and the sound it made, combined with the silence around me, was primal, chilling and unforgettable to experience.

I wasn’t at the final but watched it on the big screen in Quinn’s and the place was shaking almost uncontrollably from when McConville scored the goal to the finish. I’ve been either in the stadium or around the stadium before and after for all the Ulster breakthrough victories in the 90s and 00s as well as Clare’s 1995 hurling victory and all Dublin’s All-Ireland victories since 1995 and that day stands out as the best of them all.

Armagh supporters are as a fine a bunch as you’ll meet in Ireland, proper football people, and they always get on great with the Dubs.

I’d hate to see the look on Derval O’Rourkes face when she’s actually pissed off. For a girl who used to always look so happy as an athlete she’s taken some turn.

Wasn’t she mugged off the night Shefflin got RTE sports personality of the year a good few years back ?

Evanne is a very, very poor presenter.

Can’t believe Eire’s Carling Nations Cup victory in 2011 wasn’t included.

The biggest international tournament victory an international sporting team from this island has ever achieved.

Why is it effectively two decades?

This has been a shambles of a program. They could have done something interesting but went cheap for the same talking heads and reading tweets

50 years of RTE Sport I presume - 1962 - 2012

The one thing this programme highlights is how shit we are at sports

That’s 51 years. The cut-off point seems very arbitrary.

Then why is Sonia (2000) in with Katie Taylor (2012)

What is MGMT?

I haven’t watched any of these programmes because I can tell you that the day thugby was allowed to soil Croke Park with the Tans and their anthem as well as that bollix from Cappamore crying, will run away with the win.

I suppose I should be thankful that some golfing moment, its not even a sport, or a soccerball achievement won’t win anything on this occasion.

The rugby chaps pipped at the post.

MGMT…new band formed recently comprised of Bryan McFadden, Gerry Fish, Imelda May and Tommy Fleming, so MGMT. They’re unreal
