There’s an entire generation of second rate Irish comedians immortalised and given justification for their existence by Father Ted.
I once wandered locked into the backstage area of a gig at Edinburgh looking for the toilet and I met Colin Murphy warming up. He was nonplussed but sound.

In fairness, the majority of comedians you see regularly now on Irish TV are mediocre at best.
Ireland’s funniest comdian is probably more of a debate.
McSavage is funny, a lot of the Savage eye is very good
