Connolly himself would have viewed himself as a Socialist rather than an Irishman. They didnāt believe in national borders only a communist revolution.
That said he was a great Irish patriot, but not really an āIrishmanā.
It would have been interesting had 1916 successed to see the split afterwards as FG/FF had absolutely zero interest in Connollys view of a post freedom Ireland. The civil war would probably have been fought on capitalists vs socialist lines rather than what it ended up being.

I find them two lads alright. Not necessarily all the time funny but for a day you donāt want to be listening to gloom and doom theyāll pass the morning for you.
