If each poster wants to take one point and write maybe 1500 words on it, that would be fine.

Flesh that out a bit please, art. Maybe include Merrill Lynch.

I think it was because bankers did higher level maths …

Forgot neary, another accountant!

Basically accountants and auditors covering each other to perpetuate the greatest swindle in irish history

The introduction of the Euro.

Greed through large swathes of the population. I said to my wife back in the mid noughties that I honestly thought we must be the only one of our friends in Ireland who only had one house. Easy to blame everyone else. The fact is that the country delighted in " light touch regulation" when it suited. Can’t get too vexed about it now. Still happy to facilitate corporate tax evasion if it suits, and fuck the neighbours. It is what it is. No point getting upset.

I had only one house in the mid noughties

Could you expand on the role of the regulator please, pal. What exactly did he do or not do in this case.

The introduction of EU Funding

Completely failed to regulate. Hope this helps my mate.

It’s all someone else’s fault.

The Jews probably.

“you cant be any geek off the street”:pint:

Regulate is one of the best songs ever.

@Horsebox, there was a report by the IMF (the fucking IMF of all places!) recently on how equality in society affects economic growth. It basically made shit of the types of policies that nutjobs like @TheUlteriorMotive and @balbec believe in. I was going to post it up and start a thread in relation to it to discuss the general issue of promoting equality in society which in Ireland we have sacrificed at the alter of “the economy”, which is really the exact opposite to what this report concludes is the best approach. Anyway I never did and this thread seemed about the closest thread to relevant to mention it. Thanks for your time @Horsebox.
