Is there such a thing as a white poppy Larry?[quote=âlarryduff, post: 398709â]
Yeah Snow chooses not to wear one. He objects to âpoppy fascismâ and doesnât believe in wearing it while on air. He does wear one off air though I think. Likes of Daily Mail disagree with him on this one surprise surprise. Iâd like to see him someone on tv wear a white poppy.

Yes. I have been known to co-ordinate the making of the white and red poppy in the school I work in each November. The white poppy usually âwinsâ hands down.
Yeah they are told about significance of both poppies and they then choose whether they want to make a red one or a white one. They then write the reason why they chose that particular poppy on the poppy.
Super idea larry[quote=âlarryduff, post: 398716â]

Because it commemorates the most pointless waste of human life in history. I really donât get the fetish for commemorating WW1. It may have been poignant when some the soldiers were still alive but now that they arealk gone it strikes me as the worst kind of British pageantry.
I could never understand anyway why they didnât celebrate their own heroic resistance to Naziism in WW2. I wonder is it because they had to be bailed out by the Americans and it cost them the Empire. [quote=âFitzy, post: 398721â]
Fair play to you, what is the Irish White Poppy movemnet?
Personally, I donât see what the problem is with wearing poppies.

But maybe they commemorate WW1 because of the sheer pointlessness of that war? Arseing around in a few fields in France and Belgium for basically fuck all.
I knew a simple soldier boy⌠Who grinned at life in empty joy, Slept soundly through the lonesome dark, And whistled early with the lark.
In winter trenches, cowed and glum, With crumps and lice and lack of rum, He put a bullet through his brain. And no one spoke of him again.
You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye Who cheer when soldier lads march by, Sneak home and pray youâll never know The hell where youth and laughter go.
You probably do get it though. Glorifying former wars is central to building support for new ones. In terms of comparing it with WW2, twice as many people from the UK died in WW1. And as well as that, brilliant ideas like the pals battalions meant that entire towns and villages had whole generations of young men wiped out in single mornings.
No actually I donât get it. Thatâs why I said I donât get it.[quote=âWatch The Break, post: 398726â]

What action will you take Dancing Baby if the Voice wears a UVF poppy? Maybe ignore one of his tips as a protest? I would urge you to post his mobile number and address so members can take their own action
My great-grandfather had to live through and in the end die from wounds suffered on the battlefield in WW1 so I have no truck with those Irish who want to wear the poppy.
