Fuck him, he has been nothing but underwhelming in an Ireland jersey since Trap gave him his debut and has had numerous chances to displace Whelan and Andrews and has constantly disappointed. Now he has a chance to push on and really stake a place for a starting spot and is now a regular at club level and he decides to walk away.
Donāt know if they tried but here is a thread on it

Is there any way back for Gibson after this? Sounds like he doesnāt want to be considered for selection going forward. Heās probably sour over the two boys being picked ahead of him at the Euros and then unimpressing. Maybe he will put himself back in contention under a different manager but it is not something the fans will or should forgive lightly. He is showing big disrespect to his country.
Fairly sure Noble was being touted years ago but came out with a statement along the lines of he wanted to play for England.
David Meyler has been called up in his place
Just reading this now. What the absolute FUCK is going on? Trap out. He has to go. Weāve never had this kind of shite constantly fucking going on until lately (Saipan excepted). Just absolutely ridiculous shit. Every player should be able to take not getting played etc. but Trap seems to handle just about everything in the most cack-handed, moronic and alienating way.
To be fair it is time now that the likes of Gibson, Wilson, Coleman etc and parachuted straight into the first X1. You hope that would be the plan anyway once this campaign begins.
Who? Gibson and Foley? No loss.
Was he not one of the few bright spots in the Serbia game? Thereās something going on here. And it seems rotten to me. Fuck Trap and especially fuck Rocko, Trapattoniās biggest cheerleader and the man who I pretty much hold responsible for all this.
Richard Sadlier was wrong before the European Nations Cup.
Now I think he is right.
Youāre right, we have a huge pool of players to choose from and can afford to tell a different player to sling his hook every few months or so.
I think Coleman is nowhere near as good as people think, full of energy and honest endeavor but McGeady and McClean are better players IMHO. Coleman is a decent impact player ala Stephen Hunt.
Gibson would have been given a chance no doubt, he has already been given plenty of chances in qualifiers over the past 2 campaigns but has done nothing of note. James McCarthy probably the big winner in all this
McCarthy will probably be next to walk away.
I disagree. I watched highlights of some EPL game the other day and when he came on to play right wing he was very bright and positive with pace and skill to boot.
Gibson wasnāt playing at club level. He has a starring role in a very very impressive Everton team now. Anyone who says āfuck him, we donāt need himā needs their heads examined.
heās muck
he plays for everton ffs
Where did I say we donāt need him, but even with him in our central midfield it is still going to be pedestrian as fuck. The lad has thrown a strop because he felt he should have been in the team at the Euroās despite being a huge disappointment and having plenty of chances to stake his claim over the past 2 qualifying campaign
Andy Keogh scored for Milwall earlier
He plays for a team with a 100% record this season in the best league in the world, the Barclays Premier Leagueā¢.
Thatās a starting place for next Friday assured for him now, youād imagine.
The rush to condemn Trap is in full swing again I see. Gibson could be slightly disappointed that he didnāt get a chance at the Euros but his stubbornness in warming the Old Trafford bench and his poor performances for Ireland were a bug factor.
But irrespective of who the manager is this is no way to react. This is a competitive game, a World Cup qualifier, and heās throwing a strop. Fuck him.
