Irish Player Watch 2012/13

I think it is centre back or nowhere for Clark, even at club level. He has had some shocking displays at left back and isnā€™t comfortable there.

Not that Ward is up to much but the likes of Cunningham, Tierney and Wilson would be better alternatives than Clark for left back

Very well taken goal by Simon Cox today

Thatā€™s a fucking superb goal. I feel heā€™s been treated a bit unfairly by the public as Trap has decided for some bizarre reason (The Andy Keogh Reasoning perhaps) to play him on the wing. Heā€™s a good player. And still quite young.

Two nice assists from James McCarthy today.

Yeah Clarkā€™s lack of recovery pace makes him a liability at left back. Goes without saying that Iā€™d have him in ahead of Whelo though in midfield

JOS was alright earlier at centre back for Sunderland and McClean was decent enough too.

whelo?

Lovely finish from Cox.

McGeady got the first goal for Spartak yesterday:

How is McGeady doing in Russia does anyone know? I know he was getting good reports when he went over first but then there were stories that he had fallen out with the coach before the Euros. Thought he would have been moving nearer home during the summer but better playing for Spartak Moscow than be part of MONā€™s revolution at Sunderland for example.

Spartak changed their coach in the summer. He only had a short spell of disagreement with Karpin anyway, he was dropped for one or two games and that was it.

Difficult to get many English language reports but he was linked with a move to Zenit in the Russian media which would be a good sign obviously and heā€™s always playing and had a decent assists record.

Wexfordā€™s Aidan White has put Leeds in front at home to Everton in the English League Cup.

Shane Long scores for WBA.

Cillian Sheridan scored a hat-trick for Killie at Tynecastle yesterday. An Irish recall must surely be on the cards.

Hopefully the rumours linking Sheridan to Sligo are true as itll help him play football at a higher level next year with the addition of CL qualifiers also in the Summer, this would be a step in the right direction for him anyway, talks of international returns may be a bit premature tho.

As an aside i am watching the ugly side of the EPL here tonight with QPR playing West Ham in an absolutly atrocious game, That disgusting whinger Anton Ferdinand is getting it off the WH fans thank god, Joey O brien went off there after half an hour, the commnetary is in arabic so i dont know if he is injured if if west ham have finally decided he is shit.

Derek O Brien just put Drogeheda one up there as well against Shelbourne

I think Winston Reid went off injured so Iā€™m thinking the Joey Oā€™Brien substitution was tactical.

Oā€™Brien himself was injured.

I watched highlights from EPL side Everton v Southampton over the weekend. Sheamus Coleman looked very good from what i saw, real bright and brought plenty of endeavour/spirit to the table yet again, he also whipped in a terrific cross for a goal.

mickee, do you think the McMillan brothers should be in the Irish squad?

are you referring to the 2 brothers at UCD and Bohs?
I do not think as of yet they should be in the Irish senior squad but as they are irish players i hope they will be watched and discussed on here like all irish players should be.
One of the lads was in this irish colleges squad i understand before, most of the irish players watched and discussed on here wouldnt of ever made it at that level.

Good, hopefully like Leon Best heā€™ll be out of international contention for the foreseebale furure in the interest of damage limitation

I know a fella playing for Bridge Celtic, can someone watch him to see how he is playing and if he deserves a call up, thanksā€¦
