63 premier league appearances and 10 years in the EPL is a more successful career than the vast majority of players, add to that he’s capped at senior level, for a lad who never came through an academy that is some going. Went straight from Avondale to Burnley.

I would say if you were half decent, you would be making a nice little living in the championship or league 1? Would the decent players be on half decent money? I know you wouldn’t retire off it, but could set you up for buying a house with no mortgage.
Could have dropped down to the SPL and played every week.
I would say that is less ambitious than staying at the top level and fighting for your place.

It’s rare an outfield player plays at the same club for 11 years averaging 6 games a year. You’d get decent money at Celtic.
Everyone is different, but for me, being a basically anonymous footballer getting paid £10k a week is the absolute goldilocks scenario. I wouldn’t want to be famous, that only leads to your life going to shit with people plaguing you everywhere you go.

I was at a club in Manchester and a lad had a load of women hanging off him because he told them he was Bradley Wright-Phillips (he wasn’t). I should have told them I was Kevin Long.
