Irish soccerball nil - That boy Bazunu will save us (Part 1) 🐐

Hughton played in the 5-0 against Turkey when McGrath was sloshed, it must have been his last cap or very close to it.

Morris was first choice for the England home game in November but Irwin had dislodged him by the time Wembley came around.

O’Leary played in Wembley and Poznan.

Keane’s debut was against Chile a few weeks after the Poland home game.

Phelan’s debut was a friendly away to Hungary in September '91.

John Byrne was the man in Turkey, that was his golden season for Sunderland when they reached the FA Cup final.

Had a look at the line ups for the Euro '92 group games there now. Some right mongrel looking line ups in the last two games of that group but they worked performance wise.

Poland away looked like a 4-5-1:
Bonner
Irwin-Moran-O’Leary-Staunton
Morris-Keane-McGrath-Townsend-Sheedy
Cascarino

Turkey away looked like 4-3-3:
Bonner
Hughton-McCarthy-O’Leary-Phelan
Staunton-McGrath-Sheedy
Byrne-Aldridge-Cascarino

Maybe Byrne played as a winger?

Can’t quite figure Staunton’s positions in that games. Right midfield? Central midfield?

Jack brought on Bernie fucking Slaven for Aldridge when we were looking for a goal at home to Poland. In a game where we were struggling to break down a defensive opposition, he left John Sheridan on the bench.

Ronnie Whelan only featured against England at Lansdowne.

Coleman, Harte and Staunton would all have more caps than him. There would be a fair group of full backs with 50 odd caps strangely enough - Finnan, Hughton, Irwin and Gary Kelly all won around 55 caps.

Just checked there and the best of them all Stevey Carr won 44

Steven Ward has 50 irish caps

Carr seemed to be an excellent full back up until he was about 24/25. Did he have some bad injuries? Would have been one of the top full backs in the EPL up until around that point.

Riddled with knee injuries.

How many Irish full backs made Premier League Team of the seasons around the turn of the millenium?

Irwin, Kelly, Harte, Carr, Finnan?

Interview with Jamie McGrath there.

They didn’t seem to ask him whether he was vaccinated or not.

cc @the_man_himself

Neither was Chiedozie Ogbene in the same interview

Why haven’t they asked a white lad yet?

You promised they would.

It’s disgusting the way the black guys are getting badgered about the vaccine

This great thread has gone to shit since yesterday.

99.2% of people involved with Ireland’s major rugby teams are vaccinated. Well done rugby.

This looks very bad for association football in comparison.

Only Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool are leading by example in the way you would hope and expect many more in the game to have done so.

Not surprising to see a right wing sport of the elites like rugby buying into vaccine fascism.

The working class sport like association football staying true to its left wing origins I’m glad to say and not bowing to fascism.

Let the record show this racist ignoramus calls vaccines “fascist”.

No more needs to be said.

It’s not surprising to see the ogranisation that backed apartheid South Africa is now aligning with vaccine fascism.

It’s gas seeing our resident nutjob veering more and more to his totalitarian fascist ideology while trying to project onto everyone else. The virtue signaler who is noted around this forum for his toxicity and vile anti-Russian racism. He is also a vehement supporter of sex predator Bill Clinton.

Has anyone considered giving Callum a good kicking yet?

A few of the vaccine fascists on here would I’m sure, sad to see an articulate young man like Callum who has taken a very middle ground and balanced approach being targeted by the vaccine fascists on the basis of his race.

This is James McClean all over again.
