Irish soccerball nil - That boy Jinky will save us (Part 2)

This attitude may be part of the problem lads have in committing to us.

Something like that. The best thing that’s going on at the moment is that at underage we have more and more quality Irish born lads who are mostly playing in the LOI. Hopefully this kind of thing will happen less in the years to come.

The reality is if a lad is good enough he’s going to play for England and not us. This fella might end up coming back to us yet a few goals in the championship is a long way from the England team

Bamford has done fuck all and we still couldnt pull him aside.

I’ve no problem stealing lads at senior level if they are available and interested.

But should we be bothering our holes with these young fellas who’ll just leave if they are any good.

Pick Irish lads underage and if the likes of Tom Cannon wants to play with us an adult then fair enough

Ive never seen the lad play but if he couldnt get a look in at Everton last summer, unless he has developed out of all recognition while out on loan, he can’t be that good.

Harry Kane, Ivan Toney and the odd few more have been late developing English forwards recently. They are just covering their bases. I’d be surprised if he is as good as Bamford.

Cannon does look special. Not quite Conor Clifford level but not far behind him.

The FAI and English born players with Irish heritage are like couples dating during the pre-contraception Catholic era in Ireland. Capping Grealish, Rice and now this Cannon fella would have been akin to pregnancies followed by forced marriages. Martin O’ Neill flacked a fair bit of blame for not “trapping” Grealish and Rice by playing them in competitive games.

They’d have just quit after ten caps I suspect. Defo grealish.

I don’t know. Once you’re in a setting like an Irish camp it can become infectious. Mark Lawrenson probably felt more English than Irish but was a regular in the heart of the defence up until his injury. Very few players have voluntarily called a halt to their Ireland career after 10 caps or less bar Stephen Ireland.

When Lawrenson played they had lots of characters. On the piss in Gibney’s & Tomangoes. They had plenty of fun and some success.

I’d say it’s soulless these days with Kenny.

Dela would have had Oman waiting on the runway as backup
