Irish soccerball nil - Troy Parrott to the rescue (Part 2)

Is it any coincidence Ireland were strong when rovers were a rabble?

Seriously though,

Why would you advocate putting a player who has been garbage so far into a position he is not familiar with and has not shown anything really to suggest he could do a job there?

This isn’t Ya Ya Toure we are talking about.

Because he’s played well for Ireland in central mid before and we’ve a giant hole there as things stand

Collins isnt related to a central midfielder. Laughable to suggest putting him in there.

Portugal struggled against hungry last night.

He shipped 5 goals in 2 games and saved basic saves, its obvious the defenders dont trust him.whatsoever

He conceded four goals in two games, most of them if not all, due to the ineptitude of the defense and midfield in front of him. Nobody including the Lord Jesus Christ would have done a whole lot better given the absolute paucity of defending in front of him.

Need to boot out league winner Kelleher and bring back the guy languishing in the Championship who can’t save long shots :ok_hand:

That is where all the problems lie.

We would have six points if that decision was taken before the Hungary match and would be thinking of topping the group.

Hardly. He’s as good as we have and his strengths would be suited there.

What are these strengths you speak of?

Good on the ball and not likely to fall over as readily as the other in there.

Good on the ball as in when he passes it to the other team at least he’ll be a bit further away from our goal?

I have no fear of Collins. He has it, hes out of sorts at the moment, those of us who remember him from his Cherry Orchard days know the boy will be just fine. He’ll certainly be better away from the bomb scare Kelliher.

Every single one he was at fault for. His passive approach to goalkeeping is a disgrace

Bazunu to central midfield please.

JC was a winger. He was more a decent cross specialist

You’ve some hard on for Kelleher, I don’t know where it comes from, but it’s pure obsession at this stage. Not just me, but Ireland’s own long serving keeper Shay Given, a man with a hell of a lot more authority than you’ll ever have called him man of the match. So maybe settle yourself down, stop the vendetta, and give the lad his due. Whatever chip you’ve on your shoulder about him, it’s getting embarrassing.

The first goal vs hungary set this train wreck in motion, he was pitiful for that
