Irish Society 2014

Quick update here lads…

Breaking: The High Court has granted injunctions preventing a four-hour work stoppage by Siptu members at the country’s main airports from taking place on Friday.

It appears Irish society continues to move slowly towards the “Free World”

Anything that pisses the unions off is ok with me

I’m generally pro union but I don’t want any disruptions to the Bayan entourage for their journeys home from the UK. So in this one case I support the injunction.

Fair point. Anyway I am assuming one of the judges had a Friday flight and didn’t want any complications. I’d have done the same myself.

30 years ago most of the demographic on here would be engaged in some form of St Patrick’s Day float building or float driving duties.

Any forum members involved in any such activities this year? What have we lost as a culture?

I am changing voicemail and email out of office to Gaeilge for the weekend as a nod to the past and indeed to the future.

This parade bollox is no more part of our culture than Arthurs day. We imported it from the yanks

Not the big parade culture but the ramshackle parades in every village in the country with flat back trucks and hurling teams marching

they seem to have gone

My email signature will be in the colour green on Friday.

Not gone.

Kinvara will have its annual display of ‘new machinery farmers bought this year with shamrocks on top’ @ 12pm sharp.

In fairness its more than that.

?=your new thing when you are stumped or found to be full of shit

no , @caoimhaoin , in what way am i “full of shit”? , there’s nothing wrong with organizing a St,Patrick’s day parade whilst abroad, we hope to have a decent crowd, keep an eye out on FB for the pictures.
i presume the Waterfall contingent make there way to Ballinora on horse and cart for the annual festivities, how’s your drug addled mate who fucked off to kilkenny doing? will he come back for the holiday?
