Please use this thread to post any questions and concerns about life in Ireland in 2014. I am sure I speak for all TFK posters when I state that we want to make your reintegration into Irish society as seamless as possible.
A few pointers to begin with…
@The Wild Colonial Bhoy DoneDeal.ie will be your bible when it comes to sourcing bits and pieces for your fixie. www.fixie.ie is still unregistered so could be a nice sideline.
@caoimhaoin The personal trainer market is booming buts its filled with folks who know all about the exercise and very little about nutrition. Teaming up with a knowledgeable nutrionalist and you could exploit a gap in the market.

I’m not a personal trainer KP. Not that there is anything wrong with them an they have a very important role in modern society, but it’s not my role. I do see quite a few gaps in the irish market though.

Thanks for the help though.
No panic. Where do you see yourself getting work when you return? Will you go the construction route or will you try and make a go of the sports stuff?
I don’t know if @Rocko was reading his pms, that would probably be a question better put to @Rocko.
As to my knowledge of his return, it’s quite obvious to those in the know.
I would say construction to get going. I have fancy ideas of having a Reno company, but I feel I’d need a year (at least) in Dublin working to get the run of the houses there and what’s involved in the renovation business specific to Dublin. I’ll take te S&C as it comes, let it grow organically (sorry for the shit talk, but it’s the best description), join a GAA club, maybe coach a club, do a good job, make a name for myself, take in a couple of clients, see how it goes. I would like to be involved in boxing too, I think there is great scope for the S&C in boxing. Also maybe advertise myself to schools in time, I think there may be an angle there as well. I’ll be 12 months getting the lay of the land anyway.
I hope you’re bringing back a wedge of cash to tide you over Kev-I pissed through some amount of savings when I first moved here. Ridiculously expensive place to live if there’s not much income coming in for the first few months.
I can imagine. To be honest I’m here a year longer than I wanted to be already for that exact reason. I want the switch to be extremely comfortable. But at the same time, I’d hope to be working within a month, I go a bit mad if I have too much time on my hands.
