Ah thats splendid. Cheers mate.

He also said it’s emotional for him to return to Sligo due to his great grandfather who served in the Sligo brigade of the IRA during the War of Independence.

Is Joe Mason missing for the Irish?

Wonderful covering from Crescenzi.

Destro going very close with a good strike outside the box.

Niall Canavan has impressed me for Ireland.

Immobile with a lovely turn and powerful strike from outside the box. 2-0.

Insigne with a lovely run as the Italians threaten to run riot.

2-2, a Robbie Brady penalty and a freak goal from Cunningham.

Cmon Ireland!

H’on Ireland to fuck

A great group of young lads

Paloschi replaces Destro.

Well played Ireland. :ireland:

I think its fair to say that as a footballing nation, we have Italy’s card well marked.

Good result for Italy that pretty much secures our place in the playoffs.

Ireland 2 points behind Turkey with two games in hand. They play Rocko’s crowd next at home, which is Turkey’s last game so a win here will guarantee Ireland second. They finish with away games to Hungary and Italy.

When was the last time Ireland did decently in u-21 qualifying?

We never really have, normally due to the fact that most decent young players would have been fasttracked into the senior squad and the fact that Don Givens was manager of the side for years also didn’t help

I think it’s a shame that no broadcaster shows our competitive U21 games live. Crucial game against Turkey kicking off shortly at The Showgrounds. I can’t even find a stream for it. Anyone?

0-0 after 72 minutes
