Im working with 2 lads of Serbian extraction. They had told me about their/our struggle and how British & American imperialism has ruined the Balkans. They also tell me about the lies that the western media have spread about Serbia and Serbians.
Im enraged by this but now want to learn more about Serbia’s proud history.
Any decent books
There’s a movie with Owen Wilson called Behind Enemy Lines that is pretty definitive and will tell you all you need to know.
Also there is a band called Franz Ferdinand who you should listen to.

I wrote a 5000 word essay on Serb nationalism for my History course in UCD which I would be glad to send on to you. I also lived almost two years with a girl who spent a year fighting in the war. She’s pretty fucked up about it.
I told her there was a Bosnian team playing St. Pats in the Europa Cup qualifiers one night and she almost put a chair through the window.
True story.
If you want an understanding of the conflict with a football theme tied in, may I recommend the relevant chapter in Jonathan Wilson’s superb Behind the Iron Curtain book.
